Build a character with the Designer
The Designer is a guided, step-by-step way to build a character. You set identity, appearance, style, and personality, generate a front preview, refine the look, then create a multi-angle reference sheet. Saving turns that set into a reusable character you can attach to generations in Studio.
The Designer is the guided way to create a character from scratch. Instead of gathering reference photos yourself, you describe the character step by step, generate a preview, and let the Designer produce a multi-angle reference set you can save and reuse. This guide walks the steps from a blank slate to a saved character.
Work through the steps
- Identity: give the character a name and a base profile.
- Appearance: define face, hair, and body details.
- Style: set wardrobe direction and a color palette.
- Personality: add traits, interests, and lifestyle notes.
- Preview: generate a front reference image to see the look.
- Refinement: adjust until the preview matches your intent.
- Reference Sheet: produce a multi-angle set from the look.
- Save: create the character so it is ready to use.
Why the reference sheet matters
A character is only as good as its references. The Designer's reference sheet step generates several angles of the same look so your saved character has varied visual references to draw on, which makes later generations more likely to read consistently. Varied angles and lighting give the model more to work with than a single front shot.
From the Designer to Studio
Once you save, the character joins your library and can be attached to any compatible generation in Studio, used in the Planner, and given a voice in Persona Chat. If a later result drifts off-model, you can return to the character, add references that cover the angle or expression that slipped, and keep refining over time.
